CMI graduate student researcher at Colorado School of Mines Luis Aguayo Torrez is from Oruro, Bolivia, where he obtained a bachelor's in Metallurgical Engineering.

"I am currently studying for a master's degree at the Kroll Institute for Extractive Metallurgy on a Fulbright scholarship, where I also work as a research assistant," he explains. "The CMI project I am working on is the Physical and Chemical Beneficiation of Cobalt Ores from Iron Creek, Idaho. Specifically, I am in charge of increasing cobalt grade through a pyrometallurgical process known as thermal decomposition or pyrolysis of the pyrites contained in flotation concentrates."

He says CMI has helped him with tremendous financial support to carry out the research, feedback on the work and the access to great presentations to broaden his knowledge.
