Meghan Fujimoto is a chemical engineer in the Aqueous Separations and Radiochemistry Group at Idaho National Laboratory. She holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Prior to INL she worked as a Post Bachelor Research Associate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Her work there supported various research projects including the sequestration of Tc-99 to prevent leaching into the environment, detection and analysis of contaminants in groundwater, and development of an electrochemical method to uniformly dissolve light water reactor components.
Currently, she plays a key role in ongoing research for the separation and capture of volatile fission products, supporting used nuclear fuel reprocessing as well as commercial nuclear power plants. Her primary research focuses on developing key operating parameters for gas adsorption operations. Additional areas of expertise include solvent extraction technologies, sorbent development, along with experiment design and execution. She also provides analytical and engineering support for an innovative pilot plant utilizing the Zircex process.
