Achievement
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) disseminated CMI short course information to Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs).
- In collaboration with LLNL working group (external to CMI), an informational session about opportunities at LLNL was held at South Carolina State University, which is an Historically Black College and University (HBCU).
Significance and Impact
- CMI short course hosted 12 attendees from MSI that qualified for travel grants.
- External working group collaboration resulted in a CMI-supported Materials and Chemistry Institute (MaCI) summer internship student: Blake Berry is mentored by CMI researcher Emily Moore.
Hub Goal Addressed
Expanding outreach to MSI/HBCU and promoting diversity by providing new CMI opportunities.
