Innovation
New critical element free high-performance magnet material.

Achievement
Development of new critical element free Fe-alloy with magnetic properties sufficient for high performance magnet – i.e., potential BHmax approaching 40 MG-Oe.

Significance and Impact
Novel critical-element-free permanent magnet material employing domestic, abundant, inexpensive Ce for generation of magnetic anisotropy, rather than critical Nd/Dy.

Hub Target Addressed
Accelerated discovery and deployment of new permanent magnets.
