CMI researchers at Ames National Laboratory conducted the activity for highlight

Innovation  

Internship at Ames National Laboratory for Melanie S. Guerrero focused on rare-earth metallization using the REMAFS fluoride salts approach. 

Achievement 

  • Conducted advanced studies supporting domestic rare-earth metal production and the development of safer synthesis routes. 
  • Participated in industry tours to gain firsthand insight into how research translates into industrial processes. 

Significance and Impact 

Developed strong interest in critical materials research, with plans to continue pursuing research and work in this field.
