New small-business formed to commercialize domestic rare-earth metal production in Ohio – business will leverage CWRU’s CMI-funded development of first, fully sustainable electrowinning process enabled by novel reactor designs and a dimensionally stable anode that avoids GHGs.

Achievement
Launched CWRU start-up GALVANIX, with option agreement for IP finalized between Galvanix and CWRU. Funding proposal submitted to CM Accelerator Program.

Significance and Impact
Source of domestic Nd and Dy metal production, integration into domestic supply chain for NdFeB magnets, and critical materials workforce development.
