CMI researchers from Ames National Laboratory conducted the activity for this highlight

Innovation
Demonstrated magnet performance competitive with certain NdFeB magnet grades via a novel “hot-roll” semi-continuous fabrication process.

Achievement
Team obtained a hot-rolled magnet with 40.4 MGOe energy product and 11.3 kOe coercivity, along with 100% density.

Significance and Impact
Record-high energy product reveals that a more rigid boundary promotes a higher degree of grain alignment, and thereby greater MH squareness. This principle will guide our future development.

Hub Target Addressed
Accelerated magnet discovery and maturation.
