Achievement
Dr. Sameer Kulkarni graduated from CMI Team member Purdue University in October and joined Idaho National Laboratory (INL) as a postdoctoral researcher in November 2024.
Significance and Impact
- Dr. Kulkarni previously worked as a student research associate for life cycle assessments (LCAs) on CMI technologies, including additively manufactured bonded neodymium-iron-boron magnets, electrochemically manufactured graphite, and aluminum cerium alloys from direct reduction of cerium oxide or carbonate.
- Dr. Kulkarni brings his critical material expertise to INL’s Dynamic & Spatial System Analyses Group, Decision Sciences Department, working on supply chain, market modeling and techno-economic assessment.
- Also, Dr. Kulkarni will build skills in software development and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in critical material research.
