During the 2026 CMI Winter Meeting at Colorado School of Mines, the U.S. Department of Energy held a listening session to hear from industry as well as students, postdocs and other early career professionals from universities and national laboratories.

  • During the general session of the CMI Winter Meeting, DOE’s Jeremy Mehta, Chief of Staff for Critical Minerals, Materials, and Manufacturing (CM3), provided an overview of the new structure and key initiatives of the U.S. Department of Energy. 
  • After lunch, Mehta and Helena Khazdozian, the DOE Program Manager for the Critical Materials Innovation Hub, held a listening session focused on industry perspectives.

Hub Targets Addressed 

  • Training the critical materials workforce of the future. 
  • Providing the leaders, technical experts and skilled professionals needed by  U.S. industry to assure supply chains.
