CMI postdoc wins ORNL’s ‘Your Science in a Nutshell’ competition

CMI researchers from Oak Ridge National Laboratory conducted the activity for this highlight

Achievement 
Dr. Ana Belen Cueva, CMI postdoc at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), wins “People’s Choice” award in the “Your Science in a Nutshell” internal contest competing for the best 3-minute research presentation.

Significance and Impact

  • Ana was one of 16 finalists selected from 28 applicants across the laboratory’s 8 research directorates.
  • Her 3-minute presentation described her research within FA1, Enhancing and Diversifying Supply, focused on targeted leaching of rare earth elements from ores and improving sustainable domestic processes.
  • Staff, postdocs, and students across ORNL learned about the work done in the CMI Hub and its importance to clean energy deployment.

  • Develop leaders, technical experts, and skilled professionals needed by U.S. industry to assure supply chains.
