Achievement
The fourth cohort of the CMI Leadership Academy planned and ran the inaugural CMI Short Course, “Rare Earth Elements: Mine to Magnet and Beyond,” which was held January 23-24, 2023, at Colorado School of Mines  prior to the CMI Winter Meeting.

Significance and Impact

  • The short course covered key aspects of rare earth markets, supply chains, and magnets - as well as the science and engineering necessary for the extraction, processing, manufacturing and recycling of rare earths. Instructors included CMI researchers, leading academics and industry experts. 
  • More than 60 people attended this 1.5-day event.
