CMI leaders co-organize, attend 12th U.S.-Japan Bilateral Meeting on Rare Metals

Achievement    
Critical Materials Innovation (CMI) Hub leadership and project team members took part in the 12th U.S.–Japan Bilateral Meeting on Rare Metals in Tsukuba, Japan, on August 1, 2025. The meeting was jointly organized by the U.S. CMI Hub, Japan’s National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), and the Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), with delegates from both nations participating.   
 

Significance & Impact  

  • Alternating annually between the two nations, this high-level meeting provides a premier platform for advancing collaborative research in critical materials.
  • By co-leading the 12th Bilateral Meeting, CMI strengthened global leadership and advanced U.S.–Japan collaboration to secure critical materials supply chains.
  • CMI members also took part in the REPM2025 conference held in Tsukuba on July 27-31, 2025.
