Meet CMI Student Mike Jindra

Meet CMI Student Mike JindraMike Jindra was awarded “Best Poster” for his presentation “Scalable Biorecovery of Critical Materials from Industrial Waste” in the Sustainability section at the AICHE 2016 Annual Meeting in San Francisco.

Mike, a student from Ohio State University, was working as a Student Undergraduate Laboratory Intern (SULI) at Idaho National Laboratory with David Reed, Vicki Thompson, and Yoshiko Fujita on the FA 3.2.5 project, helping to develop a bioreactor process for continuous production of organic acids for leaching REE from recyclable materials.

Between his internship and graduation, Jindra stated that this internship “prepared me professionally and technically to take on PhD work and has given me the confidence to pursue it and I have recently been accepted in the program at University of Wisconsin. These internships helped me to see through the eyes of a scientist, an engineer, and have helped me become a trouble shooter who is able to communicate science.”
