Meet CMI Researcher Abderrahman Atifi

CMI researcher Abderrahman Atifi is a staff scientist in Idaho National Laboratory’s Chemical Systems Department. He holds a doctorate in analytical chemistry from Marquette University and a doctorate in physical chemistry from Hassan 1st University in Morocco. Before joining INL, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the University of Delaware’s Chemistry and Biochemistry Department. His work at INL covers both applied and fundamental investigations on the recovery of critical materials, energy and environmental challenges. His area of expertise is mainly in molecular and interfacial electrochemistry, including electrocatalysis, electrodeposition, spectroelectrochemistry combined with chemometrics and quantum computational analyses. His research work has been funded through prestigious fellowships, such as Henry and Camille Dreyfus Environmental Fellowship, Schmitt Fellowship for Leadership and Fulbright Scholarship for Research. The outcomes of his research work have been published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals and contributed to patent applications and R&D 100 Award.
