Xubo Liu was a postdoctoral research associate at Ames Laboratory who became a staff scientist at Critical Material Institute. His research interests are magnetism and magnetic materials, focusing on the permanent magnets, both modeling and development. Since 2018, he has been working with CMI. He contributed to synthesis and characterization of rare earth permanent magnets including sintered and bonded Nd-Fe-B, and Ce-based magnet. His theoretical modeling work focuses on the structure-properties correlation in material at microstructure level. Recent endeavor is modeling the effect of microstructure on magnetic and mechanical properties within the framework of micromagnetics and micromechanics.
Prior to this appointment, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at McGill University and University of Texas. He has been working in magnetic materials field. The main works include experimental study on magnetic material, metallic glass and first-principles DFT modeling. He has published 90 peer-reviewed journal papers. For more details, please link HERE.
