CMI graduate student Yamah Nabiyar earned a masters degree in Mineral & Energy Economics from Colorado School of Mines in May 2022, and been hired by East Daley Analytics of Greenwood Village, Colorado. The company assesses operational risk across the energy value chain.

From August 2020 to May 2022, Nabiyar studied with CMI Deputy Director and Project Lead Rod Eggert through the various courses in the program. Also, since January 2021, he has worked with CMI Workforce Development Manager Cynthia Howell in education and outreach in several ways. These include:

  • Researching/updating graphics for the CMI exhibit at the Colorado School of Mines Museum of Earth Science, including partnering with the U.S. Geological Service (USGS) to discover the most updated metals and materials resource maps.  USGS and its counterpart in Australia allowed use of the most recent of their collaborations to be used in the exhibit;
  • Researching and developing teacher education materials with teacher researcher Danielle Ladd, including researching lithium and critical materials providing graphics for instructional materials and support during virtual and in-person teacher workshops; and
  • Working with underserved populations through the Rocky Mountain-MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) group, including welcome receptions, supporting training materials,  and representing CMI serving as a judge for the RM-MESA state-wide student achievement engineering design competition and showcase. RM-MESA is a statewide/regional organization for traditionally underserved and underrepresented students that provides tools, technologies, resources and collaborative partnerships with key higher education and industry professionals to optimize K-14 student preparation and success for leadership in the diverse STEM workforce of the future.
