Enhanced domestic recovery of PGMs from Lundin Eagle Mine and Sibanye-Stillwater
This project will develop enhanced methods to extract platinum group metals (PGMs) as well as high value by products, such as nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co) and copper (Cu) from domestic U.S. sources. Ultramafic deposits containing copper and nickel sulfide minerals are globally the most important sources of PGMs. In the United States, the two primary producers of PGMs, nickel and cobalt are Sibanye Stillwater in Montana and the Lundin Eagle Mine in Michigan. This project will partner with these producers.
