CMI Project 2.3.11: Al-REE alloy development for advanced manufacturing (AL-REE ADAM)

Hunter Henderson at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory leads the CMI project "Aluminum-rare earth element alloy development for advanced manufacturing (AL-REE ADAM)"

This project will alleviate the rare earth supply/demand imbalance by developing high volume and high value applications for overproduced cerium (Ce). This project focuses on high value added iterations of aluminum-cerium-based alloys that reside within a techno-economic gap of alloy offerings, opening the market to early adopters and diversifying future Ce demand. It develops aluminum-cerium alloys specifically for high volume advanced processing routes in powder metallurgy (PM), cold spray, and additive manufacturing (AM).
