CMI Project 4.1.13: Accelerated alloy development and rapid assessment

COVID-19 Updates and Resources Pandemic Recovery Updates and Information

Ryan Ott at Ames Laboratory leads the CMI project "Accelerated alloy development and rapid assessment"

Project Description: To rapidly develop new materials and materials synthesis techniques with a focus on materials that are critical to US energy technologies. This includes developing more cost effective high-performance magnets as well as high-temperature Al alloys that utilize mining by-products. We use 3D printing to rapidly synthesize alloys over large composition ranges combined with advanced characterization techniques to quickly identify desirable structures and/or properties.
