Quantum Information Science

Scientists at Ames Laboratory specialize in the understanding of quantum materials and complex states of matter. Ames Lab is translating this expertise into new realms in Quantum Information Science (QIS).

Quantum Information Science

Ames Lab is translating its expertise in quantum materials into new quantum information bannerrealms in Quantum Information Science (QIS). Ames Lab is leading a DOE program in developing novel quantum computational algorithms that are enabling faster modeling of highly correlated material behavior on new quantum-based machines. Ames Lab is participating in two recently announced DOE Quantum Information Centers: the Superconducting Quantum Materials and Systems Center led by Fermilab, where Ames Lab’s materials expertise will help create new quantum computers well beyond the current state-of-the-art, and the Co-design Center for Quantum Advantage led by Brookhaven National Lab, where Ames will help develop quantum algorithms for predicting materials behavior.
