Television station WVLT8 interviewed CMI researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory about a recycling technology that they developed.
Dr. Ramesh Bhave of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory recently said he and his research partner Dr. Syed Islam have innovated technology that salvages the metal parts of valuable material that would otherwise be scrapped, such as old hard drives and electric batteries.
The Oak Ridge chemists already license their heavy rare-earth recycling tech, and demand is only climbing.
“The heavy rare-earths are more expensive, and there are no mining sources in the US at all,” Dr. Bhave said.
