All personnel entering Ames National Laboratory are required to wear a badge. You can wear your PIV Badge, Ames Lab Badge, or ISUCard. Visitors, including retirees, family members, and vendors, need to display a visitor badge or sticker while in Ames Lab buildings.
The Badging Team is still working with ISU to complete the Workday process for requesting and tracking PIV Badges. If you are eligible for a PIV, the Badging Team will reach out to you when it is your turn to get started.
Visit the Badging Website for resources and updates, including:
- Short slideshows about the most requested topics: Differences between badge types, how and where to wear your badge, and info about visitors.
- What you can say if you see someone not wearing their badge.
- Guidance for supervisors to help their teams through this change.

We collected 30 units of blood total. Thank you to our 29 blood donors and our five volunteers!
Blood donation is an important service to help those in need, and participating in Ames Lab’s blood drive is a great way to meet new people and build a strong community at the Lab.
Plus, blood donation is not the only way to participate. We always need volunteers to help during the blood drive. Many of our volunteers also donate blood, but it is not a requirement.
If you didn’t participate in this year’s blood drive, we do hope to see you next year as a donor, a volunteer, or both!
Accounts Payable (AP) would like to remind employees who purchase items from Iowa State University Chemistry Stores that receipts must be forwarded to AP to process payment to Iowa State.
Since Chem Stores now provides their receipt to purchasers via email, please follow these steps:
- Forward the email receipt to invoiceinbox@ameslab.gov as soon as possible and within the same month as purchase.
- Ensure the Ames Lab project number or project abbreviation is included on the receipt.
Iowa State does not provide any project information to Accounts Payable with the charges, therefore it must be on the receipt.
Note: Accounts Payable will continue adding a $10 charge to the project for missing receipts. The Knowledge Article is updated in ServiceNow:
Please contact Jane Houk if you have any questions. We appreciate your cooperation.
The Professional Development program has launched a website featuring upcoming events, event details, and RSVP or registration links. It also includes resources from past events where applicable. New opportunities will be added regularly, so be sure to bookmark the page and check back for updates!
