Ames Laboratory Scientist Aaron Sadow appeared on Iowa Public Radio's River to River program on Tuesday this week to discuss the global problem of plastics pollution and the solution: polymer science.
The discussion included an exploration of the concept of plastics upcycling-- breaking down long polymer chains in precise lengths that can then be used to create high value products such as lubricants and detergents.
