A journal paper by Pat Thiel and fellow researchers at Ames Laboratory was one of the most popular published in Nanoscale in 2019.  The paper, "Squeezed nanocrystals: equilibrium configuration of metal clusters embedded beneath the surface of a layered material" was included in a collection compiled by the Royal Society of Chemistry; inclusion was based on number of citations, page views and Altmetric scores.
