CMI Project 2.1.17: High magnetic field processing of permanent magnet materials

Michael McGuire at Oak Ridge National Laboratory leads the CMI project "High magnetic field processing of permanent magnet materials"

Project Description: Unique capabilities within CMI are used to synthesize and process materials in high magnetic fields and monitor changes in the materials during this processing. Magnetic fields can rotate and align magnetic particles within materials as well as alter the chemical reactions and transformations that take place in complex materials when they are heated. Research is directed at improving magnetic properties of permanent magnet materials.
