AMES, Iowa
Iowa State University and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) have extended the management and operating contract for Ames National Laboratory for another five years.
The contract extension was announced by Dario Gil, DOE Under Secretary for Science, who toured Ames National Laboratory today.
Under the contract, the federal government owns the national lab’s facilities, land and major assets. The university manages and operates the national lab. The arrangement is typical of the DOE’s government-owned, contractor-operated model for its system of 17 national laboratories.
