Call for Nominations, Cohort 8
The Critical Materials Innovation Hub (CMI) invites nominations, including self-nominations, for the eighth cohort of its Leadership Academy. The Academy prepares early career researchers and professionals in the field of critical materials to become leaders in their organizations, as well as in multi-institutional, multidisciplinary environments like CMI. Up to 10 people will be selected.
Those selected will have the opportunity to network with other early career professionals within CMI, learn and discuss leadership concepts, identify areas for personal growth, work on group projects and make a difference in CMI activities.
The estimated time commitment between January and September 2027 is approximately 100 hours, including three in-person meetings, online biweekly meetings, group projects, and self-learning time.
Eligibility:
- Open to early career professionals in organizations that are CMI Team members.
- Completed a bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience
- Nominees should be active in a CMI project.
Process: For nominations, including self-nominations, submit a nomination statement of one page and the nominee’s (or your) CV to Academy@ameslab.gov. The nomination statement should answer these four questions:
- How has the nominee contributed to their current CMI project?
- Why do you think the nominee should be a member of the leadership academy or, in the case of self-nominations, why do you want to be part of the academy?
- How did the nominee (or you) demonstrate leadership through activities such as teamwork, mentoring, group communication and/or community building? For self-nominations, give an example.
- How would the experience of the leadership academy help with their (or your) future career?
Deadline for nominations: No later than November 13, 2026. Decisions will be announced no later than December 18, 2026.
