Hunter Henderson is a CMI researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Hunter Henderson leads the CMI project "Al-REE Alloy Development for Advanced Manufacturing (AL-REE ADAM)," which started October 1, 2020. he joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a Research Scientist in May 2020. His work in the Actinides and Lanthanide Science Group focuses on the development of high performance aluminum, magnetostrictive materials, and high entropy alloys. Prior to this position, Hunter held a postdoctoral position at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in a team developing novel Al-Ce alloys, work that was awarded an R&D100. He has also served as Chief Technology Officer of Element12 Biotechnologies, Inc., a startup focused on commercializing bioresorbable magnesium medical implants. Hunter graduated with a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida under Prof. Michele Manuel in 2014, and primarily investigated magnetoacoustic processing of magnesium composites and atom probe tomography of nuclear fuels during his graduate studies. His research interests are structure/property relationships in light metals, alloy design, advanced characterization methods (synchrotron, TEM, atom probe), metallic additive manufacturing, and materials processing.
