It is shown that when the beam hits relatively close to the wedge corner the incident field near the irradiated face can be approximated as a near grazing longitudinal wave of the Goodier-Bishop type. A recipe is offered for utilizing GTD (Geometrical Theory of Diffraction) to simulate the resulting transverse and longitudinal waves.
