Iowa State University (ISU) is beginning the roll-out of Okta which will be used to consolidate multiple ISU logins into one application.
Beginning March 1, 2018, a new login page will be displayed when accessing campus applications via the web. This is the first of several phases to provide an improved user experience through Single Sign On (SSO), a user dashboard, and enhanced security upon activation of Multifactor Authentication (MFA).
Ames Laboratory staff should not ‘Activate Multifactor Authentication’ within Okta at this time.
Information on the initial Okta roll-out is available here.
Information on the announcement from ISU is available here.
What do I need to know?
Ames Laboratory staff will use Okta to connect to ISU applications (CyBox, Access Plus, Outlook, etc) and Ames Laboratory applications (ServiceNow, Google).
The username (email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org) for both systems must match. To optimize and streamline automation of user account provisioning, Ames Laboratory staff with a different Ames Laboratory username than ISU Net-ID will be contacted by EIS to change one or possibly both usernames in order to coordinate between the two systems.
Over the next several weeks, Ames Laboratory desktop support staff will work with each user to determine the best path forward to resolve the discrepancy with usernames.
