Letterhead and Powerpoint Templates

Please use these templates for Ames Laboratory correspondence or for Lab-related presentations. The letterhead template was created in Microsoft Word 2003. The logos and text at the bottom of the page may look shaded -- that's because those sections are protected so you won't be able to move the Ames Laboratory or Iowa State logos or edit the text. It will display and print clearly (check it in Print Preview).

The Powerpoint template is set up with an introductory/title page slide and a basic slide to use for all the rest of the pages. There are two versions: one with the current year displayed and one with no date.

With these templates, you only have to download them once. If you follow the directions below, it will walk you through how to download the files and (further down) how to use the templates.

To Download the Files

If you're using Internet Explorer, follow these steps to download the templates:

  1. Right click on the links below. A box will pop up with a number of options.
  2. Select "Save Target As..." and save the file to your computer.
  3. When the file has downloaded, click the "Open" button.
  4. With the document open in the appropriate program, select "Save as" from the "File" menu.
  5. Rename the file so you can distinguish it from the others (i.e. Ames Lab Letterhead), but don't hit the "Save" button just yet.
  6. Below the file name box, go to the "Save as type:" drop-down menu. Select "Document template" in Word or "Design template" in Powerpoint.
  7. Click "Save." The files should save to the appropriate folder so the program can find the template when you want to use it.
