The 11th Annual Ames Laboratory Employees Holiday Auction will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12. This year the auction proceeds will benefit the Story County Raising Readers program and Bethesda Food Pantry.
For those new to the Lab, the Holiday Auction raises money by actioning off items donated by Ames Lab employees and local businesses. A variety of smaller items are placed on a silent auction with larger items sold to willing bidders.
A few early auction items, pictured below, have been donated, but many more items are needed. Bring your auction donations to the Public Affairs Office, 111 TASF. Items will be on display closer to Thanksgiving and an updated listing will be provided in the November Insider.
To date, the auction has generated more than $30,600 for local charities with a record $4,447 raised in 2011. Once again, there will also be a hat and mitten tree to benefit local children and donations of canned and boxed food will be collected.
Auction items donated so far include a beer-making kit, a Cross pen, a tequilla "shooter," a beer stein, fireman statue, and a belt and billfold set.
