Summer internship programs winding down

Ames Laboratory's 10-week summer internship programs are winding down. The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI), Community College Internship (CCI) and Visiting Faculty Program (VFP) began in late May and will conclude later this week with poster sessions on Thursday and Friday.

This year, 27 students participated in the SULI program, with Ames Laboratory and ISU researchers David Vaknin, Mark Gordon, Emily Smith, Ning Fang, Don Sakaguchi, Tanya Prozorov, Javier Vela, Barbara Lograsso, Gene Takle, Igor Slowing, William Jenks, David Baldwin, Bill McCallum, Evgenii Levin, Michael Kessler, Alex Travesset, Marit Nilsen-Hamilton, George Kraus, Keith Woo, Ed Yu, Baskar Ganapathysubramanian, Surya Mallapragada, Aaron Sadow and Basil Nikolau serving as mentors.

The CCI program had seven students and the VFP program had two faculty members and two students.

The poster session for Ames Laboratory students to detail their summer research experiences will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2 in the lobby of Hach Hall. Students will also present their posters on Friday, Aug. 3 from 1-3 p.m. in the Howe Hall atrium (tentative location), joining students from Iowa State University's Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.
