Abstract

We report the (31)P NMR spectrum and spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T(1) as a function of temperature in the two-dimensional frustrated square lattice compound BaCdVO(PO(4))(2). The temperature dependence of 1/T(1) indicates the existence of antiferromagnetic ordering at T(N) similar to 1.05 K which is also evidenced by the broadening of the NMR spectrum below that temperature. The temperature dependences of 1/T(1) and 1/T(1)T(chi) just above T(N) demonstrate the importance of two-dimensional antiferromagnetic spin correlations for critical fluctuations.
