Massimiliano Delferro, deputy director of iCOUP and scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, was featured in an article published in the Chicago Tribune. According to the city of Chicago calculations, only 9.6% of the city’s waste was recycled in 2022, compared to the 19%-70% recycled in other major cities across the country. A local recycling company recently opened a $50 million state-of-the-art facility that accepts a wide-range of recyclable materials.
