Abstract

Macrocyclic rhodium(II) complexes LRh(H2O)(2+) react with (dmgH)(2)-(H2O)CoR and with (H2O)(5)CrR2+ by alkyl transfer for R = CH3 to generate L(H2O)RhCH32+. When R = C2H5, C3H7 or C4H9, the reaction takes place by hydrogen atom abstraction from the coordinated alkyl and produces L(H2O)RhH2+ and an alpha-olefin.
