CBS Scientists Recognized by Iowa State

 

Several scientists in the Chemical and Biological Sciences (CBS) division of Ames Laboratory were recipients of recent awards made by Iowa State University.

[PHOTO]Igor SlowingIgor Slowing received the ISU Professional and Scientific Research Award. This award recognizes Professional and Scientific staff members for excellence in research. Igor received his PhD at Iowa State under the late Victor Lin in 2008. Slowing is staff scientist in CBS and adjunct assistant professor of chemistry at Iowa State.

 

 

 

[PHOTO]Emily SmithEmily Smith received the ISU Mid-Career Achievement in Research Award. This award recognizes faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in research and/or creative activity at the mid-career stage. Smith, a CBS faculty scientist, was recently promoted to professor of chemistry at Iowa State.

 

 

 

[PHOTO]Javier VelaJavier Vela received the LAS Institutional Service Award from Iowa State’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This award recognizes a member of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences faculty or staff for a history of exemplary institutional service that has benefitted the department, College and/or the University.  Vela is a faculty scientist in CBS and an associate professor of chemistry at Iowa State.

 

 

 

[PHOTO[Thersa WindusTheresa Windus received the LAS Outstanding Teaching Award from Iowa State’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This award recognizes members for outstanding teaching performance over an extended period of time in education. Windus is a faculty scientist in CBS and a professor of chemistry at Iowa State.
